On the weekend of April 10-11, Chicago Maharashtra Mandal hosted BMM Ekankika Spardha. The event was a grand success. Chicago team led by the president Jaydeep Buzruk worked very hard to organize the event. About 500 people experienced the warm hospitality of Chicago committee and 12 superb ekankikas from all over US. The judges were Dr. Mohan Agashe, Smita Talwalkar and Deepak Karanjikar. Following are the results:

Second Prize:     Nilaai Ani Pasara      Sanmitra-Utsahi Mitra Mandal, CA
Third Prize:         Ghar Doghanche      Colorado Marathi Mandal, CO
 
Best Actrees:  Madhura Gokhale (Ghar Doghanche)
Best Actor:      Sanjay Pachpande (Begger's Life) and Ashutosh Hadap (Muktidham)
Best Director: Manoj Shahane ( Muktidham)
 
Lakshavedhi Ekankika : Beggar's life (Bay Area Mandal)
Lakshavedhi lekhan : Amruta Hardikar for Nilaai Ani Pasara

BMM offered cash awards to top 3 ekankikas ($500, $300 and $200). These ekankikas will be presented on Friday May 28 at Natya Sammelan. The DVDs of the entire program were made by a professional. If you want to purchase those, please contact Jaydeep at buzruk@...
 
I am very touched by the help provided by judges, overwhelming response by the ekankika teams, hard work put in by Chicago team and the unity displayed by all Marathi people in NA. That is the mission of BMM. On behalf of BMM committee, my heartfelt thanks to you all for making this event a huge success.
