2009/12/12 - President to BMM Members
Hello everyone,
As you are aware, BMM's most sought-after project is Marathi Shala. Please check a message below from Leena Deodhare who is a BMM secretary and lead for this project. Thanks, Madhuri Joshi
****************************************************************************************************************************
Namaskar,
On behalf of BMM the current Executive Committee I am pleased to inform you that the "BMM Marathi Shala" curriculum pilot project has started from this fall. BMM will be taking the initiative of making a uniform curriculum to standardize Marathi language teaching in North America to the second phase soon.
A selected panel of experienced teachers have come up with this curriculum. This will achieve a standardize mechanism of how to teach, what to teach and how to evaluate the students in North America. This will leverage the experiences of many teachers over the years in North America and will implement best practices evolved in various schools over the years. We recognize the diversity of the students, their age groups, family background and various learning abilities. The teachers have created a consolidated curriculum to cater the personal needs of North American students. The second phase will be to create work sheets, story books, tests, exams methods and web learning.
This curriculum will be available to the member mandals of BMM only. BMM will be conducting three level standardized test in association with Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. We strongly recommend you to use this curriculum for your Mandal's Marathi Shala. We would also support you to start new Marathi Shala initiative in your region. This curriculum has been tested out in Toronto Marathi Shala for last 34 years under the Board of Education for International Languages. Seven member Mandals have started sharing this curriculum already. BMM wants to take Marathi teaching in North America to a different level by giving three level standardized testing. Eventually we will try to evolve this into university affiliation from India.
Please contact Leena Deodhare or Sunanda Tumne for further details. We are looking forward to work with you and your Mandal's Marathi Teachers to make this important project successful.
Sincerely, |
